Happy flood season
Hi everyone,
First, for those who live locally, I hope you were spared in the recent flooding from last week. I posted what has been going on here at my rental house and studio above Lake Willoughby on Instagram, but I am sure many may have missed my updates. I watched water rise up to my door in the shop during the rain storms last week. The house I am renting is built so poorly they left the sill plates in on the exterior door opening and water comes onto the concrete floor of the shop. That, coupled with a plumbing leak that destroyed a couple thousand dollars in fabric the week before has me looking for a temporary shop space in Saint johnsbury, VT. Why Saint J? Because it's bikeable distance from the new house and shop I am building in Peacham. In fact, i am just 2.5 miles of dirt road to the Lamoille Valley Rail trail, which goes across the state. the rail trail eastern termination is in Saint J. I already camp in Peacham 4 days a week, so i would just stay there full time while building and ride to the shop the three days a week I am there. dirtbag life.
April 2025 pack making class in Wales, UK. Thank you to everyone who expressed interest. We will be working out the details next week and i will be sending group email to all who expressed interest before I post the class on social media.
I have been building one fully custom pack a week, see latest packs below, in addition to working with Anna & Emma filling all back orders of smaller items, while building up a small inventory of the same product. it's a good way to get Anna and Emma up to speed. We are moving onto more complex small batch runs and the schedule for the next couple months is below:
currently building:
Higgs Boson ski packs. YKK is out of #10 water resistant zipper tape, and has been for months. I bought the last 50 feet in stock from my supplier.
Same for the Expedition duffels we started last month. Some were completed, some are cut awaiting zipper tape. These will be finished as soon as I have a handle on the zipper tape. Regular #10 zipper is also an option with a storm flap if you need a bag sooner.
up next:
Seat bags these have recently been updated to daisy chains on the top and now primarily built in the Ultra fabrics ( woven UHMWPE). The velcro seat post strap has been replaced by a solidly attached Voile strap running through a daisy chain.
Top Loading Frame bags These at least do not need #10 zips. Regular frame bags/ Cluster bags/ top tube bags as soon as zipper tape is available. These are custom only.
HAB Panniers Now built in Ultra fabrics.
items in stock:
Dyneema Snow totes
Catalog:
I have slowly been rewriting parts of the website in anticipation of getting the catalog done. likely be out this fall. i need to build a new set of sample packs for the new shop and these will also be used to illustrate the catalog. if you have photos of AL gear in the wild feel free to send along.
Thanks for following along. I'll leave with photos of the second floor of the shop up from 2 days ago. I start roof framing later this week after a 2 day private class.
